After years of vacancy, a building at the Goudsesingel caught Brightside’s eye as a target for redevelopment. With ‘Firma230’, one of post-bombardment Rotterdam’s first large buildings at the Goudsesingel is now restored in full glory. Now a multi-tenant office building, it proudly houses one of Rotterdam’s most succesful restaurants in the plinth and a diverse group of ambitious entrepreneurs on its floors - one of them yours truly ;).

a layered program
The top part of Firma230 is home to a diverse group of companies - several architectural offices, a graphic design firm , sustainability consultants, a youth aid organization and many more. Of course, the building's plinth houses the renowned Restaurant Rotonde - famous for its locally sourced, sustainable and of course delicious food. To top it all off, the basement provices several servicing functions for the whole building, such as a ‘city canteen’, a bar and meeting rooms.
Firma N. Aandagt & Zn
Originally conceived by H. & E. Kraaijvanger for businessman Nathan Aandagt as a pottery warehouse, the building boasts a beautiful structure of concrete collumns and beams. All unnecessary coverings were stripped in the transformation process, revealing the intricate textures of the wooden formwork to provide a characteristic look throughout the building.
